Brian and I have put in an adoption form for a kitty at the shelter named Dexter. Most shelter kitties have names that are fairly temporary, but "Dexter" fits him to a T - he's smallish, skinny, and very intelligent and inquisitive. You can just see him poking around keyboards and batting at computer cables. He has black, medium-length fur with white patches on his underside and feet and a little black dot on the bottom center of his chin.

We plan to pick him up at the end of the month, so tomorrow we're going to go looking for kitty dishes and a litterbox and scratching post. I also want to get one of those cat climbers that hangs over the back of the door, but they cost about $180 new so I may have to wait for that.

This is all assuming the adoption form goes through (though I wouldn't see why not, as two of the employees at the shelter know us and know we'd be good cat parents). Jamie's actually quite happy that we're adopting him, since he's apparently one of her favorites. She commented that he was calmer with us than anyone else he had met, which I think is a pretty good sign that he's the cat for us.

I'll be sure to post pictures once he comes home. In the meantime, it gives me something to look forward to while my teeth heal...=P
